Unified approach set to accelerate visitor growth, heritage promotion and global storytelling
Ajman has taken a significant step toward sharpening its tourism focus by merging tourism development with culture and media into a new Department of Tourism, Culture and Media.
The new department aims to elevate Ajman’s profile as a destination for authentic cultural and heritage experiences while strengthening its overall tourism appeal.
Issued under Law No. (2) of 2025 by His Highness Sheikh Humaid bin Rashid Al Nuaimi, Ruler of Ajman, the department consolidates efforts to drive tourism, safeguard cultural heritage and enhance media presence under a single, cohesive leadership.
Sheikh Abdulaziz bin Humaid Al Nuaimi has been appointed Chairman, with Mahmood Alhashmi as Director-General, setting the stage for focused and strategic management.

By combining staff, budgets and responsibilities, the new department seeks to cut bureaucracy, improve coordination and speed up decision-making, all critical factors in today’s competitive tourism landscape.
Its mandate covers tourism policy, event management, heritage conservation, museum oversight, media regulation and investment promotion.
Ajman’s tourism sector is already on an upward trajectory, with tourism revenue rising 7% in the first quarter of 2024, fuelled by a 9% increase in visitor numbers and steady growth in hotel occupancy and guest stays.
Looking ahead, the department plans to expand cultural offerings, highlight historic sites and boost Ajman’s presence in key regional and global markets.
Its enhanced media function will play a vital role in sharing the emirate’s story with the world, attracting creative industries and increasing international visibility.
Headquartered in Ajman city, the department also has the flexibility to open additional branches inside and outside the emirate to support global outreach.
