New one-time service allows guests to skip front-desk formalities
Dubai Tourism has launched a one-time contactless hotel check-in solution, enabling guests to bypass traditional front-desk procedures after a single online registration.
The innovative initiative, developed by the Department of Economy and Tourism (DET), positions Dubai as the first destination globally to implement a unified, citywide remote check-in system across its hotels and holiday homes, marking a major step in the emirate’s drive to enhance digital tourism services.
Designed to provide a streamlined, safe and efficient arrival experience, the biometric platform uses AI-powered facial recognition technology to verify guests in seconds. The system can process up to 10 people simultaneously, removing the need for passports or physical documents at reception.
Guests simply upload their identification documents and biometric data via mobile before arrival, allowing them to proceed directly to their rooms upon check-in. The registration remains valid until the associated ID expires, allowing repeat visitors, who account for nearly a quarter of Dubai’s annual arrivals, to breeze through future stays with a quick facial scan.

DET confirmed the technology is available immediately for integration across the city’s hospitality sector. Hotels and holiday home operators can connect the tool to their existing digital platforms without major infrastructure upgrades.
Looking ahead, the department noted the platform could extend to other tourism-related services, such as car rentals, enabling a single biometric profile to streamline multiple guest interactions during their stay.
Commenting on the initiative, Sheikh Hamdan bin Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Crown Prince of Dubai, Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Defence of the UAE, said the launch reflects Dubai’s commitment to embedding smart technology into everyday services, strengthening its position as a global hub for tourism and business travel.
During the first 10 months of 2025, Dubai welcomed 15.7 million international overnight visitors, maintaining its status as one of the world’s most visited cities.
