New digital platform to connect local property owners to global booking sites
Oman Tourism is set to regulate the sultanate’s short-term luxury rental market through a strategic investment by its development arm, Omran Group, in UK-based property technology firm UnderTheDoormat Group.
The US$7 million investment is a key part of Omran’s plan to boost competitiveness in Oman’s growing tourism sector, which has seen hotel revenues rise 18.2% to record levels in the first half of 2025.
The move will connect local property owners with global booking platforms, to reach new audiences, and expand flexible rental options in Oman’s key tourism destinations.
UnderTheDoormat’s proprietary platforms, Hospiria and TrustedStays, will underpin a fully integrated digital infrastructure to ensure quality, regulatory compliance and efficient multi-channel distribution across the short-term rental market in Oman.
This framework will enable property owners and hosts to list their units on international platforms such as Airbnb, Booking.com, Expedia and Homes and Villas by Marriott Bonvoy, supported by targeted marketing to raise visibility and attract a broader international audience of visitors.

OMRAN, in partnership with Visit Oman, is also expanding licensed short-term rentals within its Integrated Tourism Complexes, including Al Mouj Muscat, Muscat Bay, Jabal Al Sifah, and Hawana Salalah.
The move aims to embed regulated rental options in key destinations while creating growth opportunities for owners, investors, and local communities.
This investment builds on a collaboration begun in 2022, when UnderTheDoormat’s technology supported government-approved short-term rentals ahead of the FIFA World Cup in Qatar.
Oman’s hospitality sector is experiencing robust growth, with hotel revenues in the three- to five-star segment rising 18.2% to OMR 141.21 million (US$367 million) in the first half of 2025.
International visitor numbers hit a record 1.14 million, up 9.2% year-on-year, with hotel occupancy rates also climbing to an average of 54.7% during this period.
Oman aims to double annual visitors to 10 million by 2040, with tourism revenues growing to US$15 billion.
