Group to double footprint in sultanate with rebrands at Muscat’s Barr Al Jissah
Hilton is set to double its footprint in Oman, signing three new hotels in Muscat that includes the debut of the Waldorf Astoria brand in the sultanate.
Developed in partnership with the Zubair Corporation, the trio of properties will open in 2026 within the coastal enclave of Barr Al Jissah on Muscat’s stunning coastline.
The development will comprise Waldorf Astoria Muscat Al Husn, Hilton Muscat Al Bandar and DoubleTree by Hilton Muscat Al Waha, collectively transforming the destination into a multi-brand Hilton resort complex.
Currently home to the Shangri-La resorts operated by the Zubair Corporation, Barr Al Jissah will see each property rebranded under Hilton’s portfolio.
The exclusive, adults-only Al Husn will undergo a full renovation before reopening as Waldorf Astoria Muscat Al Husn, offering 180 rooms and suites, five dining venues, a signature Waldorf Astoria Spa and access to a private beach cove.
Hilton Muscat Al Bandar will follow in January 2026 with 198 rooms and suites, six restaurants and bars, extensive event facilities and a dedicated spa featuring treatment villas, vitality pools, steam rooms, tropical showers, an ice fountain and relaxation zones.

Opening in tandem, DoubleTree by Hilton Muscat Al Waha will deliver a family-friendly retreat with 302 rooms and suites, four dining venues and access to shared resort facilities.
Across all three hotels, guests will enjoy 15 dining concepts spanning Asian, Arabic, Italian, Spanish and international cuisines, alongside 600 metres of private beach, a 500‑metre lazy river, six swimming pools, four floodlit tennis courts, a kids’ club, a health club, mini-golf and a dive centre offering PADI and SSI certification.
Carlos Khneisser, Chief Development Officer, Middle East & Africa, Hilton, said the new properties will help to meet Oman’s “growing demand” and support its goal to attract 12 million tourists annually to the Sultanate by 2040.
Niels Bormans, Group Chief Executive Officer at The Zubair Corporation, added: “By combining Hilton’s global expertise with our commitment to preserving the Sultanate’s heritage and natural beauty, Barr Al Jissah stands as a world-class destination that reinforces Oman’s position as a leading tourism hub in the region; not as an aspiration, but as a reality shaped by excellence, authenticity and global confidence.”
With these openings, Hilton will double its portfolio in Oman, adding to its existing properties: Hilton Garden Inn Muscat Al Khuwair, Hilton Salalah and DoubleTree by Hilton Muscat Qurum.
