Egypt targets regional tourists with new social media campaign

Initiative aims to attract visitors from Saudi Arabia, the UAE, Kuwait and Jordan

Egypt’s Ministry of Tourism and Antiquities represented by the Egyptian Tourism Promotion Board (ETPB) has launched a promotional campaign on social media sites to showcase the country’s tourism offerings ahead of the summer season.

Called ‘Your Vacation in Egypt’, the campaign mainly targets Arab markets, including Saudi Arabia, the UAE, Kuwait and Jordan. The ETPB’s chief executive, Amr Al-Kady, said the campaign would also target domestic tourists by highlighting the country’s leisure and cultural activities.

This regional initiative follows Egypt’s international campaign, entitled ‘Follow the Sun’, that was launched in March and which achieved positive results in terms of spread in target markets including the UK, Germany, Italy, France and the US.

The new regional campaign focuses on the most-used social networking sites in each target market to  ensure the most reach and engagement, said Suzan Mustafa, director general of the Tourism Promotion Department at the ETPB.

The campaign coincides with the participation of the ministry at Arabian Travel Market, to be held in Dubai from 9-12 May.
