Namia River Retreat is set to attract luxury wellness travellers to Vietnam
The coastal city of Hoi An will soon be home to the only pool villa resort of its calibre, located in the popular Ancient Town, laced with canals.
Namia River Retreat, which is positioned on an islet overlooking the Thu Bon River, is pegged to open in December 2024.
Just a short bike ride from Hoi An’s bustling central market, this luxury resort has 60 pool villas, each with spacious open-living, an outdoor terrace with views of the palm forest or river and a sunken bathtub overlooking the private pool.
Touted as a ‘cultural wellness resort’, guests will be offered a mix of traditional therapies and authentic cultural activities inspired by the local heritage.
The daily programme includes a 90-minute wellbeing journey per person, consisting of a 30-minute herbal hammam using locally sourced herbs, and a 60-minute traditional therapy. In addition, mindful rituals will include silent meditation walks, lantern lighting and visiting a wishing tree.

“The spa and wellbeing journey has a distinct Vietnamese story and we’ve incorporated a visit to our apothecary; Duong Sinh, a traditional Vietnamese morning movement practice; Xông Hơi, a folk remedy steam prescription, and Dien Chan facial reflexology into the guest experiences," said Michelle Ford, the CEO of Lumina Wellbeing, the wellness and hotel operator of the resort.
The tranquil resort also features an experiential salt-water swimming pool with 180-degree views of the Thu Bon River, a bio-pond with fish and communal lounge areas. Locally-sourced fresh seafood and herbs from nearby Cham Island will be a big part of the dining menu.
