Qatar Airways launches flights to Almaty, Kazakhstan

New direct services to Almaty will be operated twice a week by an Airbus A320 aircraft

Featuring 12 seats in business class and 120 seats in economy class, the outbound flight will depart on Mondays and Fridays at 12:55 and arrive four hours and 20 minutes later at 08:15. The return leg will also depart on Mondays and Fridays at 21:55 and return at 12:10 (+1 day).

Commenting on the network expansion, Qatar Airways group chief executive Akbar Al Baker said: “We are delighted to launch direct services to Almaty, which reflects the close relationship between the State of Qatar and Kazakhstan. Almaty is continuing to grow in popularity with our passengers for both business and leisure purposes, attracting travellers who wish to enjoy its rich culture, cuisine and natural scenery.

“This important new gateway will provide enhanced connectivity to both business and leisure travellers, and will help connect passengers from Kazakhstan to our extensive global network of more than 140 destinations worldwide.”

Almaty International Airport president Alp Er Tunga Ersoy added: “We are very happy to welcome the first passenger flight from Doha by Qatar Airways, which is one of the five-star airlines in the world. Citizens of Kazakhstan will enjoy the high-level service quality on board.”
