Educational ship tours debut in Vanuatu with worldwide rollout to follow
Royal Caribbean International has introduced two destination-focused education programmes designed to engage students and spark interest in cruise tourism and maritime careers.
Launched in Vanuatu before a planned global rollout, the initiatives will provide immersive onboard experiences for both primary and secondary school students. The Royal Voyagers programme invites younger learners to explore life at sea through interactive activities, while Royal Mariners offers older students a closer look at ship operations and marine sustainability.
Participants will enjoy guided ship tours, meeting key crew members including the Environmental Officer and visiting operational areas such as the Waste Management Centre and Engine Control Room.
The first activity took place in November with students from Saint Joseph Primary School in Port Vila, coinciding with Anthem of the Seas’ return to Vanuatu to mark the start of the summer cruise season.

Additional schools and dates are set to be announced as the initiative expands.
Commenting on the launch, Paul Pio, Director at the Department of Tourism in Vanuatu, said: “Cruise tourism is an important part of Vanuatu’s economy, and programmes like Royal Caribbean’s educational ship tour programmes can help inspire future tourism leaders. By giving students hands-on experiences and a window into maritime careers, we’re building pathways for the next generation to thrive in tourism.”
The programmes form part of Royal Caribbean Group’s wider commitment to community engagement and environmental stewardship, which includes its climate strategy and goal to achieve net‑zero greenhouse gas emissions by 2050. The group’s Under the SEA initiative also supports education, skills training and destination development to drive inclusive economic growth in cruise communities.
