Gianluca Sparacino brings 35 years of experience including at Four Seasons
Silversea has appointed hospitality veteran Gianluca Sparacino as its new Global Head of Food and Beverage, effective 18 August 2025.
The appointment comes at a time of rapid culinary innovation at the luxury and expedition cruise line, as the brand continues to push boundaries in destination-led dining with its acclaimed S.A.L.T. (Sea and Land Taste) programme and a series of new epicurean initiatives.
In his new role, Sparacino will report to Michael McCarthy, Vice President of Operations, working closely with both shoreside and shipboard teams to drive the evolution of Silversea’s award-winning gastronomic offering.
He will be tasked with overseeing culinary innovation, enhancing service excellence and strengthening Silversea’s position at the forefront of luxury dining at sea.
According to Bert Hernandez, President of Silversea, Sparacino’s proven track record of delivering epicurean excellence, paired with his deep passion for hospitality, would be “instrumental in advancing our commitment to creating memorable dining experiences that connect our guests deeper with each destination we visit”.
Born in Rome and an alumnus of Les Roches hospitality management school in Switzerland, Sparacino brings more than 35 years of international experience, having held senior leadership positions across some of the world’s most prestigious hotels and resorts.
He joins from Four Seasons Resorts, where he most recently served as Vice President of Food and Beverage for the Americas, following a successful tenure in the same role across Europe, the Middle East and Africa.
During his time at Four Seasons, he was credited with redefining dining concepts, fostering high-performing teams and collaborating with Michelin-starred partners to elevate the brand’s global culinary offering.

On his new appointment, Sparacino said: “It is an honour to join Silversea — a brand synonymous with unparalleled experiences and service — at such an exciting time. I look forward to building on this legacy, crafting memorable culinary and beverage experiences that reflect authenticity, innovation, and the soulful pleasure of travel.”
Silversea has been steadily expanding its culinary leadership team in 2025. In recent months, the brand appointed Anthony Maubossin as Director of Culinary Operations & Innovation, recently inducted into France’s prestigious Académie Culinaire, and Jordan Bernstein as Director of Food and Beverage Operations, bringing nearly two decades of onboard culinary expertise.
Through its S.A.L.T. programme, Silversea offers travellers immersive, destination-inspired dining experiences — from regionally curated menus to hands-on culinary workshops with local chefs — alongside a diverse selection of onboard restaurants spanning fine French dining, Asian specialities and authentic Italian cuisine.
