Wellness hotel features a private beach, multiple pools, a spa and seafront dining
The Red Sea Edition has opened on Shura Island, becoming the first resort to welcome guests to the heart of Saudi Arabia’s pioneering regenerative tourism project.
The launch marks the second Edition property in the Kingdom, following its successful brand debut in Jeddah last year.
Set along pristine white sands on Saudi Arabia’s western coastline, the property is accessed via Red Sea International Airport, with guests crossing the 3.3km Shura Bridge – the nation’s longest internal bridge – by road before arriving on the island.
Developed by Red Sea Global in partnership with Marriott International, the resort reflects Edition’s ethos of curating “highly personalised” spaces in harmony with their environment.
Architects Rockwell Group have crafted The Edition’s low-lying stone and wooden pavilions to blend seamlessly with the native landscape, utilising rammed earth, coral stone floors, natural oak and soft textiles inspired by the region’s canyons, reefs and dunes.
There are 240 contemporary guest rooms, including 53 one- and two-bedroom suites, complemented by a private beach, outdoor pools, a spa and gym, multiple lounges and an array of sea- and pool-front dining venues.
Menus are influenced by both international and local flavours, with a wellness-focused approach using seasonal ingredients and clean preparations.
Sustainability is woven into every aspect of the resort, with the island powered entirely by renewable energy produced by Red Sea Global’s solar farm.
Commenting on the opening, Tony Coveney, Area General Manager for Marriott Luxury Group, The Red Sea, said: “We are poised to redefine luxury hospitality in the region through world-class facilities and the distinctive Edition style and sophistication in our service offering.”
