UAE airlines suspend flights to and from Kabul

Emirates and Flydubai temporarily halt services to the Afghan capital 

Dubai-based carriers Emirates and Flydubai have suspended flights to Kabul until further notice due to increasing tensions in the Afghan capital.

On Sunday 15 August, Emirates and Flydubai flights were forced to turn back to Dubai after being unable to land at Kabul airport.

A Flydubai representative confirmed that the airline had temporarily suspended flights, saying: “We will continue to monitor the situation and revise our plans in line with the directives from the authorities. We will be in touch with passengers regarding their refund and rebooking options.” 

Emirates announced on its website that flights to Kabul were suspended and an airline representative said: “We are monitoring developments around the situation in Afghanistan and are working closely with all the relevant authorities to ensure the safe operation of our services.”

The representative added that further updates on Emirates operations to Kabul would be posted on emirates.com in due course.
