The 740-passenger ship achieves top marks for cleanliness, safety and service
Crystal Serenity has achieved a perfect score of 100 in its latest US Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) health inspection in Boston, conducted under the CDC’s twice-yearly Vessel Sanitation Program for cruise ships calling at US ports.
The unannounced inspection coincided with the ship’s first North American voyage following its Mediterranean season.
To achieve the top score, ships must earn full marks across 44 criteria, including food handling and preparation, storage procedures, galley cleanliness and management of portable water supplies in pools and spas.
Bernie Leypold, Senior Vice President of Operations at Crystal, said the result highlights the senior officers’ crew’s “unwavering dedication” to the highest standards of cleanliness, safety and service.
“A perfect score is a true testament to their professionalism and passion for delivering the Crystal experience our guests expect,” he added.

Crystal Serenity, which accommodates 740 guests, was extensively refurbished in 2023 following its acquisition by Abercrombie & Kent Travel Group.
As a six-star luxury ship, along with sister vessel Crystal Symphony, Serenity has a crew-to-guest ratio of nearly one-to-one, and all suite categories have access to personal butler service.
Speciality dining includes Umi Uma by Nobu Matsuhisa – the only Nobu restaurant at sea – Beefbar, and Osteria d’Ovidio by the Michelin-starred Alajmo brothers.
Le Casino de Monte-Carlo is also among the ship’s entertainment venues.
Crystal Serenity is currently sailing New England and Canada itineraries and will reposition to Fort Lauderdale for the Caribbean season.
The ship’s 35th-anniversary voyage departs on 22 October.
