Expanded global network drives new record for Qatar’s international gateway
Hamad International Airport (HIA) in Doha reported its highest-ever quarterly passenger volume between July and September 2025, welcoming more than 14.3 million travellers. The figure represents a 4.3% increase compared to the same period last year.
August proved to be a standout month for the airport, setting a new record as its “busiest month” on record with more than 5 million passengers handled.
The growth was driven by a 7% rise in point-to-point traffic, with 3.4 million travellers flying to and from Doha, alongside increased aircraft movements and sustained high seat occupancy across carriers operating from HIA.
Capacity expansion and strong airline partnerships have been central to this record, with Qatar Airways increasing frequencies to more than 15 key destinations worldwide and launching new routes to Malta and Aleppo in Syria. Recent partner airlines, including Virgin Australia, Philippine Airlines and Air Arabia, have also increased their services to Doha.

During the quarter, HIA maintained an overall customer satisfaction score of 98%, reinforcing its reputation for operational efficiency and service excellence.
Commenting on the results, Hamad Al Khater, COO of Hamad International Airport, said the airport was "scaling with purpose" to meet rising passenger demand, driven by Qatar’s "growing appeal as a destination" and the strength of its aviation and tourism sector.
Looking ahead, traffic is expected to rise further, as Qatar Airways continues to expand its global network through new routes, including strengthening its presence in Saudi Arabia with the recent launch of flights to the Red Sea and the addition of Hail as its 13th destination in the kingdom from January 2026.
The airline has also rolled out major codeshare agreements with partners such as Kenya Airways, Air Algérie, Aer Lingus and Level, enabling customers to access more destinations across Africa, Europe and the Americas through Doha.
The world’s second-best airport in 2025, according to Skytrax, Hamad International Airport currently serves more than 55 airlines, offering connections to nearly 200 destinations worldwide.
