New routes and airport bases driving growth for Saudi low-cost carrier
Saudi Arabia’s Flyadeal has reported a record performance for 2025, carrying more than 10 million passengers in a calendar year, marking a 33% increase from 2024. The low-cost carrier’s growth was driven by an expanded route network, new operating bases and strong on-time performance.
Over the past year, Flyadeal expanded its network by 66% year-on-year, operating 159 routes across 43 destinations worldwide. The airline also made its debut in the South Asian market with five new destinations in Pakistan.
Seat capacity rose by 21% compared to the previous year, in line with the surge in passenger traffic. Pilgrims travelling for Hajj and Umrah pilgrims accounted for the largest share of Flyadeal’s customer base, representing 220,000 travellers in 2025.

Operational growth has kept pace with rising demand. The airline launched its fourth base in Madinah, joining existing hubs in Riyadh, Jeddah and Dammam. Newly introduced routes from the Holy City in early 2026 include Jazan, Tabuk, Al Hofuf and Abha in Saudi Arabia, as well as Istanbul’s Sabiha Gökçen Airport. Flyadeal also expanded its Jeddah headquarters, adding a new operations control centre four times larger than its previous facility.
The carrier’s operational excellence was recognised in 2025 when it was named the most punctual airline in the Middle East and North Africa by aviation analytics firm Cirium. It joins sister airline Saudia, which ranked as the second-best airline worldwide for on-time arrivals.
Flyadeal’s expansion aligns with broader momentum in Saudi’s aviation sector. In Riyadh, King Khalid International Airport (KKIA) recently completed the renovation of terminals 1 and 2, while the new King Salman International Airport, set to open by 2030, is expected to be one of the largest airports in the world.
