Henrich Morio to lead operational and commercial strategy for soon-to-open Ciel Dubai Marina
IHG Hotels & Resorts has appointed experienced hotelier Heinrich Morio as Managing Director of Ciel Dubai Marina, Vignette Collection, ahead of its opening on 15 November 2025.
Set to become the world’s tallest hotel, the landmark property rises more than 375 metres across 82 floors and features 1,004 rooms and suites, eight dining destinations, and the world’s highest infinity pool overlooking the Arabian Gulf and Dubai skyline.
In his new role, Morio will lead the hotel’s operational and commercial strategy, positioning Ciel Dubai Marina as a global hospitality icon within IHG’s Vignette Collection portfolio.
With more than 35 years of international experience, including 16 years in the Middle East, Morio has held senior leadership positions with luxury brands such as The Peninsula Group, Ritz-Carlton, One&Only and Jumeirah Group.
No stranger to Dubai, he previously managed several of the city’s most renowned hotels, including Jumeirah Burj Al Arab, Jumeirah Beach Hotel, Palazzo Versace Dubai and Emerald Palace Kempinski.
His career also includes management roles at prestigious resorts worldwide, from Ocean Club in The Bahamas and Le Touessrok in Mauritius to Amanpulo Resort in the Philippines.
Most recently, he served as GM of Amanpulo and oversaw the launch of The Standard, Bangkok Mahanakhon, establishing it as one of Southeast Asia’s standout luxury destinations.

Fluent in English, German and French, Morio brings extensive expertise in pre-openings, brand positioning and operational transformation within the luxury hospitality sector.
Commenting on the appointment, Tom Stevens, Senior Vice President of Hotel Operations at The First Group Hospitality, said: “As we enter the final stages of our pre-opening journey, Heinrich’s leadership experience and history of launching iconic properties will be invaluable.”

Ciel Dubai Marina, Vignette Collection, will be managed by The First Group Hospitality and is located close to JBR beachfront and Bluewaters Island, home to attractions including The Walk and Ain Dubai, the world’s tallest observation wheel.
Rates start from AED2,400 per night for a deluxe room and AED4,200 for a one-bedroom suite with lounge access.
