Muscat-Kigali service to start in June 2026
Oman Air will introduce a new direct service between Muscat and Kigali, Rwanda, from June 2026, with operational details, including flight schedules and frequencies, set to be revealed closer to launch. The new route will mark the first-ever non-stop air connection between the sultanate and Rwanda, enhancing travel options for GCC travellers, while providing onward connectivity to the Middle East and beyond for African passengers.
Known as the ‘land of a thousand hills’, Rwanda’s capital Kigali offers an array of outdoor excursions such as hiking and safaris, alongside a vibrant arts and culture scene. The city is also often called the ‘Singapore of Africa’, a remark on its cleanliness and modern developments.
Within Oman Air’s network of 40 cities, Kigali will be the carrier’s third African destination, following Dar es Salaam and Zanzibar. Throughout 2025, the airline expanded its international footprint, unveiling new services to Amsterdam and Copenhagen, alongside upcoming launches to Taif from 31 January 2026 and Singapore from 2 July.

Commenting on the new route, Con Korfiatis, CEO of Oman Air, said: “The launch of services to Kigali supports closer engagement between Oman and Rwanda, unlocks the growing tourism potential of both countries and allows us to connect guests seamlessly between Africa and our wider network.”
To support its network expansion, Oman Air continues to expand its fleet, introducing its ninth Boeing 787 Dreamliner aircraft in December 2025. The widebody jet features a two-cabin configuration, including 30 Business Class seats and 258 Economy Class seats.
Tourism in the sultanate is also on an upward trajectory, with Oman hotels welcoming more than 1.14 million guests in the first half of 2025, marking a 9.2% year-on-year increase. Europe accounted for the largest share of international arrivals, while visitor numbers from Oceania, Africa and the Americas also continued to rise.
