Shura Island destination includes sand dunes, mangroves and Red Sea views
Red Sea Global (RSG) has opened Shura Links, Saudi Arabia’s first island golf course, marking a tourism milestone as three luxury resorts prepare to open on the island in the coming weeks.
Set at the heart of regenerative destination Shura Island, the new par-72, 7,400-yard course is designed by Brian Curley and managed by Golf Saudi.
Its layout winds through native mangroves and natural sand dunes, offering sweeping Red Sea views from most holes and minimal environmental interference in keeping with RSG’s sustainability ethos.
The beachfront clubhouse by Foster + Partners, inspired by native flora and fauna, anchors Shura Links as a social hub with golf course views, elevated dining and curated retail experiences for guests.
Playing the opening round at the course, HE Yasir Al-Rumayyan, Chairman of Golf Saudi, described Shura Links as “a landmark achievement in the kingdom’s pursuit of global leadership in sports and tourism”.
“Situated at the heart of The Red Sea, Shura Links is more than a world-class golf course – it is a powerful realisation of how this unique destination can be transformed into an engine for investment, luxury tourism, and sustainable opportunities for future generations.”

Phase one of the Shura Island launch introduces SLS, Edition and InterContinental hotels, with 11 globally recognised brands set to follow including Faena, Fairmont, Four Seasons, Grand Hyatt, Jumeirah, Miraval, Raffles and Rosewood.
These new hotels join five operational Red Sea resorts, including RSG’s Shebara and Desert Rock, fully owned and managed by the PIF-backed developer.
Shura Island is just 25 minutes from Red Sea International Airport (RSI), which begins direct flights from Qatar Airways three times a week in October, further boosting regional access for travellers.
Commenting on the opening, John Pagano, Group CEO of Red Sea Global, said: “This is another proud milestone in our mission to reshape global tourism through sustainability and design, and a significant step in building Red Sea Global’s diverse sports portfolio, aligning perfectly with Vision 2030’s goal of establishing Saudi Arabia as a premier global sporting destination.”
