"It’s simple economics, supply does not meet demand," says Sir Tim Clark
President of Dubai-based Emirates airline Sir Tim Clark has admitted he expects to see higher priced airline tickets in future.
Clark, who has helmed the airline for the past 21 years, said while he would like to think the industry could get back to pre-Covid levels, he’s not sure that will ever happen.
“It's simple economics, supply does not match demand, the lines do not cross, your price continues to rise, there isn't a hub in the world that isn't compromised,” he said in an interview at this week’s International Air Transport Association (IATA) Annual General Meeting in Dubai.

Clark added: “Today, demand continues to tick up. In the end, if capacity goes down and demand goes up, then the price rises, and if you've got all the sustainability issues that the airline industry has to face, it's not looking too good because capacity is not growing at the pace that demand is."
Also weighing in on airline costs was IATA’s Director General, Willie Walsh.
Walsh said: "Ultimately, costs will increase, and those costs will have to be recovered, and that will in all probability lead to an increase in the cost of travel."
