Star of the Seas to make debut in August 2025
Royal Caribbean has taken delivery of latest mega ship Star of the Seas ahead of its August 2025 debut in Port Canaveral, Florida.
The 5,610-passenger vessel is the third in company’s fleet to be powered by liquefied natural gas (LNG).
Other “industry-leading" environmental elements include waste heat recovery systems and shore power connection, advancing Royal Caribbean Group’s ambition towards introducing a net-zero cruise ship by 2035.
The group is set to receive its fourth LNG-powered ship with the new Icon-class Legend of the Seas due to enter service in 2026.
Star of the Seas was officially welcomed into the fleet after almost two years of construction at the Meyer Turku shipyard in Finland.
The ship will transfer to Cadiz in Spain where the finishing touches will be applied before starting service on seven-night eastern and western Caribbean cruises, including the line’s Perfect Day at CocoCay resort in The Bahamas.
Royal Caribbean Group president and chief executive Jason Liberty said: ”The delivery of Star of the Seas marks another bold step forward in Royal Caribbean Group’s journey to reimagine the future of vacations.
“Star and the Icon class are a symbol of what’s possible when innovation, imagination and our relentless focus on delivering exceptional experiences come together, ultimately creating unforgettable memories for millions of families and vacationers.
"We’re proud to bring this next-generation vacation experience to life with our valued partners at Meyer Turku."
