UAE reduces PCR test validity period on Al Hosn green pass

The change will come into effect on 5 December

The UAE government has announced that the validity of the green status for PCR tests on Al Hosn app will be reduced from 30 to 14 days. 

The Ministry of Health and Prevention said the new system would be in place from 5 December. The status colour on the app will turn grey until a negative PCR test result  is registered.

The green status on the Al Hosn app shows proof of vaccination as well as PCR status and is required to access most public venues in Abu Dhabi.

The reduction in PCR validity is part of new efforts to protect public health and limit the spread of Covid-19

On Wednesday, the UAE recorded the first case of the Covid-19 Omicron variant. According to authorities, the person has been isolated and all health protocols are being followed.
