UAE’s Al Hosn app to be recognised in the UK

Proof of vaccination and PCR test results on the app will be accepted by authorities from 4 October 2021

The UK Embassy in the UAE has confirmed that travellers arriving in the UK will be able to use the Al Hosn app to show proof of vaccination and negative test results.

From 4 October, those who have received Pfizer, AstraZeneca, Moderna or Janssen vaccinations will be able to display the data recorded on the Al Hosn app in order to enter the UK. The same will apply to PCR test results.

Formulations of AstraZeneca, Covishield, Vaxzevria and Moderna Takeda qualify as approved vaccines, and travellers must have received a full vaccine course at least 14 days before arriving in England. Widely administered in the UAE, Sinopharm is currently not on the UK’s approved list of vaccinations.

Dubai International Airport, the world’s biggest by international traffic numbers, lists London as its number-one destination. The Dubai-Heathrow route was the eighth busiest globally in September, according to aviation specialist OAG.
