Waldorf Astoria Kuwait is now open in the capital. Just 11km and a 15-minute drive from Kuwait International Airport, the hotel's prime location offers guests convenient access to attractions including Kuwait Opera House, Sheikh Jaber Al-Ahmad Cultural Centre and the Grand Mosque.
Connected to The Avenues, Kuwait's famous shopping mall, the hotel has 200 contemporary deluxe rooms and suites with views of the city skyline. The property's interiors include traditional brand elements, such as the iconic Peacock Alley and the Waldorf Astoria Clock, adapted to reflect Kuwait's cultural heritage. The Waldorf Astoria Clock, for example, was meticulously crafted to reflect the significance of the solar system to the Islamic world. Until today, it is the most accurate way to determine the direction of Mecca by using the pole star and time-keeping when to pray. Astronomy was also used as a tool for navigation, whereby Arab nomads studied the sky in detail, calculated positions of stars and found their way around in the desert. With this inspiration, the Waldorf Astoria Clock was designed in two parts: the solar system was modelled into the top half of the clock as a world globe, and the bottom half as the actual clock face which functions regularly.
The property joins two Hilton properties currently operating in Kuwait, Hilton Kuwait Resort and Hilton Garden Inn Kuwait.
