Karl Kutzelnig brings two decades of global hospitality experience to the Red Sea resort
SLS Hotels & Residences has appointed Karl Kutzelnig as General Manager of SLS The Red Sea, the Ennismore-owned brand’s first property in Saudi Arabia, scheduled to open in the final quarter of 2025.
Kutzelnig will lead operations at the new resort, which introduces SLS’s signature glamour, contemporary design and high-energy experiences to Saudi, marking the brand’s second Middle East property following SLS Dubai.
With more than 20 years in international hospitality, Kutzelnig is tasked with establishing the resort’s ultra-luxury positioning, assembling a world-class team and shaping partnerships that enhance both guest experience and brand visibility.
Based in Saudi Arabia, Kutzelnig most recently served as Head of Operations for Neom’s Hotel Division, driving the development and conceptual planning of three new hotel brands.

Commenting on his appointment, Kutzelnig said he was “honoured” to be leading SLS The Red Sea at such a “pivotal” moment.
"Our goal is to create an experience that is as bold and dynamic as the brand itself, while building a passionate team who share our commitment to creating a truly extraordinary resort experience."
Located on Shura Island at the centre of The Red Sea destination, the resort will open in the first phase alongside The Edition and InterContinental, with 11 more luxury hotels planned, including Faena, Fairmont, Four Seasons, Grand Hyatt, Jumeirah, Miraval, Raffles and Rosewood.
Just 25 minutes from Red Sea International (RSI) airport, the island also features the newly opened Shura Links golf course, a marina and retail promenade.
Guests at SLS The Red Sea can expect lavish interiors, imaginative dining experiences, a lively pool scene and a dedicated spa and wellness offering.
