Hyatt turns to luxury brand expert to lead EAME region

Marc Jacheet named Group President, Europe, Africa and Middle East

Hyatt will have a new leader for Europe, Africa and Middle East (EAME), with Marc Jacheet taking the role of Group President for the region from 17 March 2025.

He takes over from Javier Águila who is becoming Hyatt’s new Chief Growth Officer, as well as his recently announced role as President, Inclusive Collection.

Hyatt says the changes are being made to become a more brand-focused organisation, and Jacheet certainly knows luxury brands.

It’s an interesting appointment from Hyatt, with Jacheet having more than 25 years of international experience but does not come from a hospitality background.

Most recently, he was senior advisor at Boston Consulting Group, with his LinkedIn profile citing expertise in consumer products, food and beverage, luxury retail, health and wellness and hospitality. Before that, Jacheet held executive roles with luxury heavyweights including De Beers, Louis Vuitton, Moët & Chandon and Tiffany & Co.

“He brings extensive global operations experience from leading consumer brands, a fresh perspective on our industry, and importantly, aligns closely with our culture,” said Hoplamazian.

Águila will continue as EAME lead and support Jacheet until 30 June 2025, with Jacheet fully transitioning into his new role from 1 July 2025. Jacheet will be based at Hyatt’s EAME hub in Zurich.

With a career in hospitality, tourism and consulting spanning more than two decades, Águila has overseen Hyatt’s EAME regional portfolio since October 2022, a collection of more than 200 properties and 45,000 keys in more than 40 countries, including those in the UAE, Saudi Arabia, Kuwait, Qatar, Oman and Jordan.

The hotel giant has will expand into 13 new markets across Europe, Africa and the Middle East by 2028.

In the Middle East, Hyatt has tripled its portfolio in the last decade, and is also set to triple its number of hotel rooms across Saudi Arabia by 2030, opening three new properties by 2026 – Hyatt Place AlUla, Grand Hyatt The Red Sea, and Miraval The Red Sea.
