Line’s “longest and largest” ship to debut in May 2027
Norwegian Cruise Line (NCL) has opened bookings for Norwegian Aura, the line’s “longest and largest” ship to date. The fifth vessel in NCL’s innovative Prima Class, the new ship will make its debut in Europe in May 2027 before repositioning to its year-round homeport in Miami.
Measuring nearly 1,130 feet in length, Norwegian Aura will be around 10% larger than sister ships Norwegian Aqua and Norwegian Luna. Designed to accommodate 3,840 guests at double occupancy, it will be the largest and most spacious ship in the NCL fleet. Expansive decks and flowing layouts will provide open promenades and layered spaces designed for effortless guest movement and connection.
A key highlight of the ship is Ocean Heights, a new four-deck zone that will serve as Norwegian Aura’s main gathering and activity hub. The open-air complex has been created for multi-generational fun, featuring five slides – including one that plunges ten decks – alongside a ropes course with ocean views, a rock-climbing wall, mini golf, cabanas overlooking an onboard beach club, and Aura Midway, a new zone with carnival-style games.
With the most slides ever featured on an NCL ship, Norwegian Aura’s pool deck will also be the largest in the fleet, more than 20% bigger than that of its Prima Class sisters. Enhancements include expanded seating, an additional infinity hot tub, a larger LED entertainment screen, and increased open-air lounging space.

NCL’s Vibe Beach Club, the brand’s adults-only retreat, has also been reimagined with more loungers, shaded seating, infinity hot tubs, and a larger central bar. Meanwhile, Ocean Boulevard, the expansive outdoor promenade, has been extended to include more seating areas, hot tubs, and a second bar, while providing dedicated zones for younger guests and teens.
Onboard, guests will find 1,976 staterooms, including 159 suites within The Haven, Norwegian’s exclusive ship-within-a-ship enclave, the highest number of Haven suites in the fleet. The private complex will feature an infinity pool, hot tubs, an outdoor sauna and cold room, and a dedicated restaurant, alongside 24-hour butler and concierge service, priority boarding, and access to private onboard events.
Following her European debut, Norwegian Aura will operate seven-day Mediterranean sailings from Trieste to Barcelona beginning May 21, 2027, with calls to Valletta, Salerno, and Civitavecchia, before undertaking a 14-day transatlantic voyage to Miami. From June through October 2027, she will sail seven-night Eastern Caribbean itineraries visiting the Dominican Republic, US and British Virgin Islands, and either Great Stirrup Cay in the Bahamas or Harvest Caye in Belize.
Harry Sommer, President and CEO of Norwegian Cruise Line Holdings, said: “Norwegian Aura represents the evolution of Norwegian Cruise Line and the celebration of bringing together families, friends and travellers from around the world. With brilliance and connection at her core, the ship was created to give all guests the freedom to vacation their very own way, offering the chance to exhale, connect and effortlessly escape into the moment."
