Heinz F Grub brings 45 years of hospitality experience across four continents
Le Royal Méridien Abu Dhabi has appointed Heinz F Grub as its new General Manager, bringing the seasoned hotelier out of retirement to lead the landmark five-star property in the heart of the UAE capital.
Grub is tasked with overseeing day-to-day operations at the 276-room hotel, as well as refining guest experiences and reinforcing the hotel’s position as a market leader.
Returning for this new challenge after a 45-year international hospitality career, Grub’s experience spans four continents and a dozen countries, holding senior roles in leading hospitality brands including Starwood Hotels & Resorts Worldwide, Kempinski Hotels, Hilton, Fairmont Hotels & Resorts, Le Méridien Hotels & Resorts and Marriott International.
A German national, he brings vast expertise in hotel operations, a hands-on leadership style and a commitment to team mentorship, as well as deep knowledge of the UAE hospitality sector, having worked in Dubai and Abu Dhabi for more than two decades.
His expertise encompasses food and beverage innovation, luxury guest experiences and the successful opening of new hotels across Africa, Europe, Asia, North America and the Middle East.

Among more recent career highlights, Grub served as GM at Sheraton Grand Hotel in Dubai and also at JW Marriott Mirage City Cairo, plus as Area Director for Maghreb at Le Royal Mansour Méridien, where he managed both regional portfolios and flagship properties from Casablanca to Istanbul.
Prior to this, he held senior operational roles across Hilton and Fairmont properties in the US – New York, Washington and Chicago – as well as in Hong Kong.
A German native, Grub brings extensive experience in the hospitality industry, including roles as Area Manager, Chief Operating Officer, and Board Member. His appointment is expected to solidify the hotel’s position as a leading destination in Abu Dhabi.
On his LinkedIn profile, Grub says he has a consistent record of "conceptualising and implementing innovative hotel operations to ensure the highest quality and profitability”.
Located within walking distance of the Corniche Beach, Le Royal Meridien Abu Dhabi is an architectural landmark, notable for its concave blue-glass façade and midcentury modern interiors, with 278 rooms and suites, a full-service spa, nine meeting rooms and seven bars and restaurants, including Stratos, the city’s only revolving lounge and grill.
