Three weekly services to Milan Bergamo Airport to commence 20 May
Kuwait’s Jazeera Airways is set to launch non-stop flights to Milan Bergamo Airport, marking the first direct connection for the low-cost carrier between Kuwait and Italy and creating a new link between Kuwait City and northern Italy. Ticket sales have opened ahead of the inaugural service.
Starting 20 May, the Kuwait International Airport (KWI)–Milan Bergamo Airport (BGY) route will operate three times a week on Airbus A320neo aircraft, with exact timings yet to be finalised.
The airport is just a 20‑minute drive from Bergamo and around 45 minutes from Milan, giving travellers convenient access to both cities. Milan, a global fashion capital, features iconic sights including the Duomo cathedral, the Galleria Vittorio Emanuele II luxury arcade, Leonardo da Vinci’s mural The Last Supper and the Unesco-listed Santa Maria delle Grazie.
From Bergamo, visitors can easily explore the wider Lombardy region, including the historic heart of Bergamo, Lake Como, Lake Garda, the Italian Alps and multi-city routes across Northern Italy.
Commenting on the new route, Jazeera Airways CEO Barathan Pasupathi said the launch represents an important step in expanding the airline’s European network while “giving travellers from Kuwait more choice and value”.
With Milan Bergamo added to the map, Jazeera Airways’ European network now encompasses seven destinations, including existing direct services to London Stansted, Prague, Sarajevo and Munich. The carrier has also recently resumed thrice-weekly direct flights to Yerevan, Armenia.

Jazeera Airways’ wider network spans the Middle East, Europe, Central and South Asia, operating from its own dedicated terminal at Kuwait International Airport. The airport is undergoing a major transformation with the US$4.3 billion Terminal 2 project, which is scheduled to open in late 2026 with an initial capacity of 13 million passengers a year, ultimately rising to 50 million.
The latest expansion comes as both Jazeera Airways and Kuwait Airways move to capture a greater share of the GCC’s rapidly growing aviation market, supported by Kuwait’s new e-visa platform and eased visit visa rules aimed at stimulating inbound tourism. Kuwait Airways has also revealed plans to add 11 new seasonal routes from June 2026, underscoring the country’s broader ambitions to strengthen its position as a regional aviation hub.
