Hotel spa expands to the foot of the slopes, offering skiers express treatments between runs
Guerlain has expanded its extensive wellness offering at Cheval Blanc Courchevel in the French Alps with La Ruche Hivernale (The Winter Hive), a new self-care retreat that extends the beauty brand’s in-house spa to the foot of the slopes, offering skiers the indulgence of luxury express treatments between runs.
Set within the Alpine landscape, the intimate glass pavilion features honeycomb-shaped mirrors referencing Guerlain’s signature bee motif. Its reflective façade mirrors the surrounding peaks, while larch interiors create a warm space with open views of the mountains.
Inside, the Winter Hive houses a boutique and a dedicated treatment alcove with two armchairs, where guests can choose from a tailored menu of pre- and post-ski beauty rituals. The offering includes facials, hand and foot massages, and 30-minute express treatments incorporating advanced technologies such as LED therapy.

Inspired by the surrounding Alpine environment, the spa’s signature facials include Frost Repair, which harnesses the restorative properties of honey to smooth and plump the skin, and Alpine Glow, an orchid-infused ritual designed to enhance skin density. For post-ski recovery, treatments such as Aurore Tech target tired hands and feet with massage techniques supported by LED technology.
Complementing the treatment offering, the Winter Hive also features a curated selection of Guerlain makeup and skincare services, alongside Maison-exclusive fragrances and limited-edition pieces created for Cheval Blanc Courchevel.
The new retreat complements the holistic offering of the Cheval Blanc Spa by Guerlain, which has introduced a winter menu tailored to the needs of skin exposed to cold, dry mountain air and high-altitude conditions. The spa also features an a chromotherapy pool, outdoor Russian banya, a hot tub, and an ice fountain designed to soothe muscles after a day on the slopes.
Set in Courchevel 1850’s Jardin Alpin, the Maison sits directly on the slopes, so guests step from boot room to piste in a few strides, trading first tracks for cocktails or massages without ever losing sight of the mountains. Service is quietly decadent, as you’d expect from LVMH, including ski butlers who pre-warm boots.
