New Asia routes added under the collaboration
UAE’s national airline, Etihad Airways, is growing its partnership with Hong Kong Airlines through a new codeshare programme and reciprocal loyalty agreement.
Passengers can now book Hong Kong Airlines flights on the Hong Kong-Abu Dhabi route, under Etihad’s ‘EY’ code, while Etihad’s network in Japan now extends to Fukuoka, Hokkaido-Sapporo, Osaka and Okinawa via Hong Kong Airlines’ ‘HX’ code.
The partnership allows passengers to travel using one ticket with single check-in and automatic baggage transfer between the two airlines.
The collaboration also introduces a reciprocal loyalty programme, enabling members of Etihad Guest and Fortune Wings Club to earn and redeem points across both networks.
This builds on Etihad’s existing partnership with Hainan Airlines, further boosting benefits for Fortune Wings Club members on Etihad’s Hong Kong service.
Loyalty programme benefits remain central to Etihad’s network, which is now the largest among non-alliance airline loyalty programmes globally.

Louis Li, Executive Vice President of Hong Kong Airlines, said: “Our relationship with Etihad Airways began in 2014 through codeshare cooperation and has remained strong ever since.
“We are confident that this renewed partnership will create significant commercial opportunities for both airlines and deliver greater convenience and value to business and leisure travellers alike.”
Etihad experienced major growth in 2025, with the carrier adding or announcing 31 new destinations over the past 12 months, including the launch of four new routes with sold-out inaugural flights in October 2025.
Hong Kong is a newly added city adding to Etihad’s growing network in East and Southeast Asia, which now services 19 cities in the region.
