Ship will enter service in November 2025
Celebrity Cruises’s new ship Celebrity Xcel has completed initial sea trials ahead of entering into service in November.
The “major milestone” was reached with the ship completing its first ocean sailing on 13 September.
The 3,950-passenger capacity vessel completed a series of manoeuvres designed to test the its functional and operational capabilities near the Chantiers de l’Atlantique shipyard in Saint-Nazaire, France it has been under construction.
The fifth ship in Celebrity Cruises’ Edge Series, Celebrity Xcel makes it debut from Fort Lauderdale, running seven-night itineraries alternating between The Bahamas, Mexico, Cayman Islands and Puerto Plata, St Thomas and St Maarten.

Celebrity Xcel will sail on its inaugural European season next summer on seven-to 11-night cruises from Barcelona and Athens, including new overnight stays in Madeira.
Celebrity Xcel will feature seven new spaces, including the all-day and all-night Celebrity Pool Club, the Attic at The Club, open 24/7 and featuring a selection of retro arcade games, plus traditional bar sports like pool, darts, foosball and shuffleboard, and The Annex, offering karaoke and high-tech sports simulators.
Also new on Celebrity Xcel is the line’s biggest spa to date, complete with the brand’s first Hydra Room, an expanded salon including a bubbles’ bar and The Bazaar, featuring an ever-changing roster of experiences, from food to dance classes and musical performances.
