UAE capital's 99 Sushi Bar among four restaurants to retain one star

The Michelin Guide Abu Dhabi 2025 revealed its third edition of recommended restaurants for 2025 at a launch event in the UAE capital this week.

The four restaurants that already held a Michelin star – Erth, 99 Sushi Bar, Hakkasan and Talea by Antonio Guida – have shown the consistency and culinary skill required to retain their award for another year.

"We are honoured, proud, overjoyed – and also relieved,” said Jaime Castaneda, the CEO of Ninety Nine Investment, the company behind 99 Sushi Bar.

Five restaurants were added to the 2025 guide's recommended "Michelin-selected" restaurants, two of which – Mika and Ryba – were also awarded a Bib Gourmand.

The five new additions are:

Mika, a lively spot at Yas Marina offering a taste of the Riviera
Bord Eau by Nicolas Isnard serving French classics at this outpost of the Côte-d'Or original
Em Sherif Sea Café offering a taste of authentic Lebanese cooking
Broadway, a modern American brasserie at the Emirates Palace Mandarin Oriental Hotel
Ryba, a specialist in local fish cooked on a charcoal grill

Retaining their Bibs from last year are T’azal, Al Mrzab, Beirut Sur Mer, Otoro and Almayass.

“Our famously anonymous inspectors experienced incredible Abu Dhabi, from its authentic traditions to its amazing innovations,” said Gwendal Poullennec, International Director of The Michelin Guides. “We do not doubt its exciting potential as a one-of-a-kind culinary destination.

“This year, local professionals haven’t failed in this commitment, proposing the most tasty and unique gastronomic experiences to their guests daily, demonstrating passion and consistency.”
